A HISTORIC church will hold its last two services this weekend.
Talbot Lane Methodist Church in the town centre will host its final communion service at 10.45am on Sunday and a district service at 4pm — to be led by district chairman Rev Gill Newton — will mark the formal closure.
Publicity officer Patricia Gorrell said everyone was welcome to attend the last services at the church, which has been a place of worship for 258 years.
The church is up for sale for £255,000 and the Advertiser reported last week that literacy charity Grimm & Co wants to buy and redevelop into a larger base with more space for story workshops, a café and a bookshop.
We want to continue holding local authorities to account, attending court and council meetings, as well as providing breaking news, competitions and offers – but it costs money. Online advertising does not cover costs, therefore we feel the need to ask for your help in ensuring we can provide the best possible coverage, online and in our printed products.
For as little as £1, you can support the Rotherham Advertiser – and it only takes a minute.
