Fight to save accident victim Ellie's foot

A YOUNGSTER airlifted to hospital after a serious road accident faces an anxious wait to see whether she will lose her foot.

Ellie Duce, suffered a fractured skull, a broken left leg and serious damage to the skin on her left foot in the accident on Nursery Road, Dinnington, two weeks ago.

She was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

But the brave youngster, of Victoria Street, Dinnington, has battled back and is now sitting up and talking to visitors at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

But she now faces the latest in a series of operations to save her foot, although her mum says she could still lose it.

Police believe that Ellie, an Anston Greenlands Junior School pupil, stepped out in front of a blue Volvo—driven by a 40-year-old woman—as it travelled along Nursery Road towards North Anston at 1pm on April 19.

Beverley said: “Ellie asks me: ‘Mummy was it my fault?’ and I say ‘No, it was just a horrible accident.’”

Witnesses to the collision are being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 01142 20 20 20 quoting incident number 401 of 19/4/11.
