Fastfood development for Wickersley

DUNKIN’ Donuts and noodle bar Chopstix will join KFC at a fastfood development beside Wickersley’s Tanyard precinct.

Rotherham Council’s weekly list of planning applications said the updated proposals from Chicken Villas Ltd were for several signs outside the former Edward Healy shoe repair premises, Bawtry Road.

However, the application itself says it is for the subdivision of the building into three restaurants with hot food takeaway and delivery services.

The proposed work includes demolition of the existing front extension and provision of new frontages.

The plans say the outlets would be open from 7am to 11pm daily, and the project will remove one of the four parking spaces on the site.

Franchise business QFM Group, which has the same registered address as Chicken Villas, was granted permission by the council in September 2019 to divide the premises into a coffee shop and a hot food takeaway, with a studio apartment above.

The last application approved for Chicken Villas for the site was in May that same year, for the demolition of the existing front extension, installation of a new shop front, change of use for the ground floor to cafe and a studio apartment above.

Public consultation on the current application ends on December 9.
