THE PARENTS of a Swinton woman who has been missing since Boxing Day have been informed after a woman's body was found on land in Parkgate.

Police discovered the body near the Fitzwilliam Arms pub and hotel on Taylor's Lane, close to School Lane, at 1.50pm yesterday.

Alena Grlakova (38) was last seen at the Fitzwilliam Arms on Boxing Day shortly after leaving the Traveller's Inn and has not been seen since.

Supt Iain Chorlton, who led the investigation into Alena's disappearance, said: "Unfortunatelty, we have found the body of a female, who has not been identified.

"We have informed Alena's parents and we keep in quite close contact with them.

"We are managing very sensitive relationships with family members in the UK and in Slovakia."

Supt Chorlton said he could not confirm whether the investigation was being treated as suspicious.

Officers were seen searching the field next to the Fitzwilliams Arms, which is still cordoned off, on Tuesday afternoon.
