Families walk away from damaged cars after smash

A RELATIVE said her family — including two young children — was lucky to survive this collision in Mexborough.

The 68-year-old called for more safety measures to be installed near the railway bridge on Wath Road.

She added: “I firmly believe that if my son-in-law hadn’t veered the car away, they would have been killed.

“When you’re going to Goldthorpe from Bolton there are give way signs. I think this area needs more safety measures too.”

Police said a grey Volkswagen and a brown Ford Focus were involved in the 6.30pm incident on Monday.

A spokeswoman added: “Two people suffered minor injuries.

“We would appreciate anyone who witnessed it to contact us quoting incident 889 of April 17.”
