Fall reported in Rotherham coronavirus hospital patients and weekly infection rate

CORONAVIRUS inpatient numbers at Rotherham Hospital this week dipped under 50 for the first time in several months.

As of yesterday morning, the hospital was treating 47 inpatients who had tested positive for Covid-19 — down 11 from the previous week.

Seven patients were in critical care.

Four people have died from the virus within the last week – the first time in several months that the weekly figure has been lower than ten.

The hospital has so far treated 2,419 patients who have tested positive for the virus, of whom 573 have died.

Government data indicates that as of February 19, a total of 779 people have died in Rotherham after testing positive for Covid-19.

Rotherham’s Covid-19 7-day infection rate has also continued to decrease.

It fell by 27 per cent in the week to last Sunday – to 136.8 new confirmed cases per 100,000 people.
