Fake firefighter targets woman, 89

The man claimed he was carrying out safety checks to get into the house, but the 82-year-old woman noticed her cash was missing shortly after he left.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said their staff always carried identification and would not generally make cold calls.

Police say the suspect is white, 5ft 7ins tall, of average build and speaks with a local accent.
