Face of Manvers drowning victim

TRIBUTES have been paid to teenager Phillip Law, who drowned while swimming in Manvers Lake yesterday.

Phillip (15) had been swimming with two friends during the hot weather when he slipped under the surface and got into trouble.

A passer-by called 999 after noticing Swinton Community School pupil Phillip in some distress at the beauty spot.

A massive rescue operation involving more than 20 emergency services vehicles followed, but shortly before 2pm the police confirmed that the youngster had died.

More than 160 Facebook users have already joined a page in his memory.

Suzanne Bentham wrote: “Forever in our hearts and our thoughts. A great guy who was nice to everyone.”

Leanne Blaydes added: “You will be greatly missed by loads, and my thoughts go out to the family.”
