Ex-senior Labour councillor tight-lipped over UKIP link

A FORMER senior Labour councillor has refused to comment on internet rumours linking him with UKIP.

Jahangir Akhtar, who was deputy leader at Rotherham Borough Council until last May, had been linked with the anti-EU party.

Mr Akhtar, one of four members currently suspended by Labour following the Jay report, said he refused to comment on the “one-sided” blog.
