Ex-Millers boss suspended in betting probe

FORMER Millers boss Ronnie Moore has been suspended by current club Tranmere Rovers after it emerged he was being investigated over possible breaches of betting rules.

Rotherham United’s League One rivals said the 61-year-old would not be in charge of the team until a Football Association probe is completed.

A statement from Tranmere said: “Tranmere Rovers have today announced that with immediate effect Manager Ronnie Moore has been suspended until the conclusion of a Football Association investigation into a potential breach of betting rules.

“Assistant manager John McMahon has been placed in temporary charge of first team affairs.

“The club will be making no further comment until the outcome of the investigation.”

It is understood that the investigation relates to allegations that Moore broke rules by betting in a competition in which Tranmere were involved.

Moore was in charge of Tranmere as they drew 2-2 at Bristol City on Saturday and complete a press conference on Monday but was suspended later in the day.
