Ex-Mayor Lyndsay Pitchley's wing walk challenge in memory of Bluebell Wood youngster

EX-MAYOR Lyndsay Pitchley is facing her fear of heights head-on — by taking to the skies for charity.

The brave borough councillor, who is also fundraising and development officer for Mind Rotherham and Barnsley, will take part in a wing walk this weekend.

This is despite her admitting “I’m not good with heights.”

Lyndsey said she was determined to go through with the challenge on Saturday in memory of Alex White, a girl she met at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice during her year as mayor.

“I’m doing it for MIND as I think it’s a great charity and splitting the proceeds with Bluebell Wood,” she said.

“I supported Alex and her family when I was mayor and am still close to her mum Michelle.

“I promised Alex I would do this so I’ve got to go through with it.

“I thought it was quite common for people to do skydives and bungee jumps so I wanted to do something a bit different.”

Lyndsey has raised over £1,500 for the two charities but hopes to double that total.
