Ex-Mayor Lindsay Pitchley's "spot the signs" warning after suffering stroke

EX-MAYOR Lyndsay Pitchley urged people to be aware of the signs of a stroke after being taken ill suddenly, insisting: “If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.”

The Holderness ward councillor (pictured) was recovering this week after she suffered a stroke at the age of just 42, despite, she said, considering herself to be fit and healthy.

“I would urge everyone to be aware of the signs of a stroke,” said the 2016/17 Mayor of Rotherham.

“I always considered myself to be fit — I eat healthily and look after myself, but I did not take notice of the signs.

“Please take a few minutes to be aware of the symptoms to look out for.”

Council leader Cllr Chris Read wished his Labour colleague well, saying: “I was very concerned to hear the news regarding Cllr Pitchley being taken ill.

“On behalf of everyone at Rotherham Borough Council, I would like to wish her best wishes for a speedy recovery.”
