Ex-England star Lewis Moody backs Joss in cancer battle

RUGBY World Cup winner Lewis Moody has paid tribute to a battling Rotherham teenager who is battling cancer.

Joss Rowley, a promising sportsman, of Lyminton Lane, Treeton, was diagnosed with cancer just months after landing spots in the South Yorkshire rugby squad and at the England Schools athletics finals.

He is undergoing treatment at Sheffield Children’s Hospital where he has stunned doctors with his progress after chemotherapy.

And this week he was further boosted when former England rugby star Lewis paid him a special visit this week at a Sheffield RUFC training session

“I was contacted by Simon, a friend of Joss’s who made me aware of his fight with cancer and how frustrating it was for him not to be able to play any sport whilst going through his chemo,” said Lewis.

“It was an opportunity for me to be able to show Joss some support and to go and see his local rugby team who have all got behind him.

“I think rugby comes into its own when one of its members is struggling and Joss’s community is a shining example of that.

“He is one of many people struggling with adversity that constantly inspire me. I have nothing but admiration for Joss and his amazing family.”
