Event to entertain elderly and raise Poppy Appeal cash

PETTICOATS will swing to the sound of big band jazz at a Poppy Appeal fundraiser next Saturday.

The charity tea dance at The Slip, on Walters Road in Maltby, will raise cash for the Royal British Legion.

It will also offer elderly nursing home residents a chance to relive their youth, with demonstrations from dance collective RotherHop.

The fundraiser is being organised by Claire Mallory (37), owner of Maltby gift shop the Vintage Booth.

Claire said: “I organised the event because of my love of all things vintage and the Royal British Legion is a wonderful cause.

“I just hope that the event will bring some joy to all our guests — but especially our senior guests.”

The event — which starts at 2pm on Saturday, August 26 — will include music from appropriately-named singer Poppy Rigby.
