The Wincobank firm will build a grass football pitch which sits above an artificial one to be used for NFL games and music concerts.

The football field will sit in three steel trays weighing more than 3,000 tonnes each, which slide under one of the stands.

The new 61,000-seater White Hart Lane is expected to open for the 2018/19 season and switching between pitches should take 25 minutes.

SCX’s selection follows the firm’s success in using similar technology for retractable roofs at Wimbledon’s Centre Court and No1 Court.
