The Advertiser put election candidates Mike Hookem and John Healey on the spot with ten social media terms - will you fare better than they did?

THIS year’s general election was billed by hustings host James Vincent as the first social media election, so the Advertiser put election candidates Mike Hookem and John Healey on the spot.

UKIP candidate for Wentworth and Dearne, Mike Hookem (with a little help from his PR assistance) identified six out of ten abbreviations, but did not know what BRB, FBF, GTG, or IDC meant.

Labour representative Healey was not as keen to take part and out of four questions he only answered one correctly — LOL — adding that said he preferred to use proper English on social media.

The pair spoke to students and staff this week at an election hustings event at Dearne Valley College
