Elderly woman taken to hospital after crash at Wickersley crossing

AN elderly pedestrian suffered head injuries after being in collision with a car at a pedestrian crossing in Wickersley last night (Wednesday).

The 70-year-old woman sustained injuries to her head, pelvis and ribs following the Bawtry Road collision, which occurred at around 8.45pm.

CCTV footage showed the vehicle was driving on a green light as it collided with the 70-year-old woman, said a police spokeswoman.

The driver stopped immediately after the collision.

"The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing," said the spokeswoman.

"The woman’s injuries are serious but not thought to be life threatening," she added.

Anyone with information about the incident or dash-cam footage which could help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 877 from February 27.
