Elderly pedestrian suffers head injury after "hit and run" collision with car

A PEDESTRIAN in his 70s suffered a head injury after being involved in a suspected hit-and-run collision with a car in Parkgate this afternoon.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We were called at about 2.05pm today by a member of the public to report a collision between a car and a pedestrian reportedly occurring off Taylors Lane in Parkgate, Rotherham.

“A car and a pedestrian were reportedly in a collision in the car park for ASDA and Farm Foods, before the car drove away from the scene.

“The victim, a man aged in his 70s, suffered a minor head injury and was assessed by Yorkshire Ambulance Service before being allowed to go home.

“Officers have located the car in question and are arranging for it to be recovered.

"Enquiries with the driver of the car are continuing at this time.”
