Eight more Covid deaths and hospital patients top 100

EIGHT more people have died at Rotherham Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 and patient numbers have topped 100. 

As of this morning, the number of inpatients being treated with the virus was up 20 on last week to 107, of whom three were in critical care at the hospital.

New case numbers across the borough have nearly halved, according to the latest figures.

In the last seven days, 3,035 people have tested positive in the borough — a fall of nearly 47 per cent on a week ago. 

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 3,931. 

More than 85 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose, nearly 80 per cent (79.5 per cent) have had their second, and more than 60 per cent (61.7 per cent) have received a booster jab.
