Eight men to appear in court following football disorder

THREE Rotherham men and five from Ipswich will appear before the courts following a police investigation into trouble before a match at the New York Stadium.

It is alleged that disorder broke out at a pub in The Crofts at around 2pm on February 7 before the Rotherham United FC v Ipswich Town Championship match.

Several people were assaulted during the incident but no serious injuries were sustained.

Three men charged with affray will appear before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on June 11.

They are Robert Harpham (32), of Charnwood Street, Swinton, Tyronne Wilkinson (39), of Ladyoak Road, East Herringthorpe, and David Allen (39), of Sheridan Drive, Herringthorpe.

Four men from the Ipswich area have also been charged with affray and will appear before Rotherham Magistrates on June 25.

They are: Ryan Robertson (21), of Lonsdale Close, Ipswich, Jack Chapman (25), of Belstead Avenue, Ipswich, Grant Cross (49), of Winsky Avenue, Southbourne and Jakob Betts (22), of Alston Road, Ipswich.

An eighth man, from the Ipswich area, has been reported on summons for affray and will appear before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on June 25.
