AN E-FIT has been released of a man police would like to speak to after two offenders tried to steal a teenager's backpack.

Police said a 13-year-old girl had been walking along Frederick Street at about 2.45pm on May 26 when two unknown offenders attempted to steal the teenager's backpack.

The pair made racially-aggravated comments towards the victim before fleeing towards Howard Street.

Police said that since the incident, they had carried out extensive enquiries to locate those involved.

"More recently, we have been working with the teen to develop an e-fit of one of the suspects," said a spokesperson.

The suspect is described as white, in their forties, and around 5ft 7in tall, with short brown hair pushed to the side. He was wearing a red T-shirt, black denim jacket, light blue jeans and trainers and had a piercing in one eyebrow.
