E-fit released of car thief who targeted women

OFFICERS investigating a theft and attempted theft from cars waiting at traffic lights have released an e-fit of a man wanted in connection.

A man grabbed a woman’s handbag from a Vauxhall Zafira at the College Road roundabout near Centenary Way at about 12.20pm last Tuesday. (August 1)

The 70-year-old driver was not hurt during the incident but was left distressed, said a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman.

Ten minutes later, a man tried to take a handbag from a stationary Suzuki Swift at the same roundabout but fled empty-handed.

The man is described as slim build, with blonde hair and a beard, around 5ft 7ins tall and wearing a faded-white T-shirt with a baggy neck.
