Eastwood drug dealer jailed for five years

A HEROIN and crack cocaine dealer has been jailed for five years.

Omar Ali (25), of Selwyn Street, Rotherham, was jailed for five years at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (July 11) after admitting to two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

He will also be made subject to a Serious Crime Prevention Order on his release for five years.

Police found class A drugs hidden behind picture frames and in other areas of an address on Hatherley Road, Eastwood, where he had been staying. The drug dealer was arrested as he tried to leave the property on January 24 when police executed the drugs warrant.

Investigating officer PC Barry Biondi said: “The warrant, carried out as a result of intelligence gathered in relation to the possession and distribution of drugs within the area, resulted in the seizure of a quantity of heroin and crack cocaine.

“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to remove these drugs from the streets of Eastwood.

“Tackling the supply and distribution of drugs within our communities is a priority for us and we are regularly carrying out proactive operations to identify those involved in this type of criminality so we can bring them before the courts.”
