Ear care team shout loud about national award nomination

THESE medics’ ears must be burning — they have just been nominated for a national award.

The ear care specialists at Rotherham Hospital provide a one-stop-shop for hearing aid referrals for patients aged over 55.

Many patients are fitted with the device on the same day as their appointment — a process which normally takes up to six months.

The team is thought to be Britain’s first to allow patients to self-refer for wax removal, infection treatments and hearing tests in the same appointment.

Now it has made it to the final round of the Care of Older People category in the annual Nursing Times Awards.

The team has been invited to deliver a presentation to award judges in September.

If successful, members will attend a ceremony in November to discover whether they are winners.
