Duo who tried to detain burglars in Aston assaulted by 13 men, say police

TWO men who tried to intervene during an attempted burglary by detaining the suspects were jumped by around 13 men.

The victims had tried to detain three men who attempted to burgle a property on Aughton Lane, Aston, at 2.35pm on Tuesday, police said, but were assaulted by a group of around 12 or 13 men.

It is not known whether the gang of attackers included any of the three attempted burglary suspects.

The two men were taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries, added the spokeswoman, and have since been released from hospital.

Anyone who can help the police with their investigation should contact 101, quoting incident number 531 of February 26, 2019.
