Dulux to the rescue for Wath scout group

WATH Scouts have got a smart-looking HQ thanks to a donation of paint by the Dulux Decorator Centre, at Rotherham’s Barbot Hall industrial estate.

The headquarters of the 6th Rotherham Wath St James Scouts on Barnsley Road, Wath-Upon-Dearne, has suffered three floods in five years, and with numerous scout groups ranging in age from six to 15 years old and other local organisations relying on the premises, the building’s interior badly needed repainting.

Andrea Langridge, beaver scout leader, turned to Dulux Decorator Centres’ Colouring the Community scheme for help. The scheme aims to help local community groups and charities restore their premises, community centres, and surrounding areas.

And the firm responded by donating paint and materials to spruce the building up.

Andrea said: “The floods had a devastating affect on all our members. Not only was the building severely damaged, but we lost all our camping equipment, books and other valuable resources, which caused major disruption and meant that we were unable to meet for weeks on end.

“We were struggling to make ends meet financially and so the Dulux Decorator Centres’ donation has been an absolute godsend and our headquarters is now a much nicer and cleaner place to meet.”

Simon Coupe, manager of Dulux Decorator Centres’ Rotherham Store, said: “It was really unfortunate that 6th Rotherham Wath St James Scout’s headquarters was subjected to not one but three floods, which had a knock-on effect for many members of the Rotherham community.

“We were delighted to donate paint and materials to such a deserving group and the headquarters now look the part and will be enjoyed by local people of all ages for years to come.”
