Jake Bartholomew-Mann (24), of Romney Close, Flanderwell, was locked up at Sheffield Crown Court today (Tuesday) for attacking Neil Pearce (37) at his home on New Year’s Day.

He admitted unlawfully and maliciously wounding Mr Pearce with intent to do grievous bodily harm at a hearing earlier this month.

Sentencing Batholomew-Mann, Judge Matthew Nicklin said: “You began a sustained and vicious assault on Mr Pearce.

“This was an inexplicable, unprovoked attack of sustained violence and it could easily have killed [him].

“It’s remarkable that Mr Peace survived the attack – certainly, when he lay on the ground, he concluded that he was going to die.”
