He was jailed last Wednesday for 40 months after being convicted.

Insp Chris Blake, from Rotherham’s Central Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This this was a great example of the value of neighbourhood policing.

"Three of my officers were out on patrol near the town centre when they witnessed Thompson dealing drugs to two other men.

“Despite Thompson’s protests that these drugs were for personal use, the subsequent investigation proved otherwise.

“We have been carrying out enhanced patrols recently in our local communities to encourage compliance with social distancing. This has given us a fantastic opportunity to disrupt criminality such as this.

"Drugs and drug related crime can devastate communities and those involved in this type of crime pose a real threat to the safety of the public.”

Any information or concerns about drug crime can be reported to your local policing team, via 101, or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.
