A DRIVER was ordered to pay £280 after using his dead father’s blue badge to park on Forge Island.

Zain Ali (32) told the enforcement officer he was picking up his dad from the bank but failed to return to the vehicle.

Damien Wilson, Rotherham Borough Council environment director, said: “This is another example of this extremely antisocial crime.

“Using a blue badge fraudulently while the badge holder is not present is bad enough but to use a deceased person’s badge is despicable. 

“The council will not tolerate such activities and will take legal action whenever it is in the public interest to do so.”

Ali, of Holmes Lane, admitted the October offence before magistrates in Sheffield last Tuesday. He was fined £100 with £150 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
