Driver killed in crash near Ulley Country Park

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision at Pleasley Road shortly before 8am.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, a police spokeswoman said.

She added: “The driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. These are not thought to be life-threatening."

The road from Pleasley Road at Whiston through to the junction with Ulley Lane and Treeton Lane at Aughton was closed until 3pm.

Enquiries are ongoing. Officers appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-cam footage to call 101 quoting incident 138 of March 9.
