Driver in hospital after police chase ends in three-vehicle smash

A POLICE chase ended with a hospital stay for a motorist who lost control and crashed his car into two other vehicles.

The 29-year-old man remained in hospital today following the smash in Wombwell yesterday morning.

A police spokesperson said: “At just before 11am, the driver of an Abarth 500 reacted when approached by officers on Summer Lane, Barnsley.

“As officers engaged in a pursuit, the Abarth lost control on Wombwell Lane, and collided with a Renault van and a Ford Fiesta.

“The driver of the Abarth, a man from Barnsley, suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.”
