Driver in court over Rotherham dancer's death
Gemma Marshall

A MAN is due to appear in court next month charged with causing the death of a Rotherham student by driving carelessly.

Alex Jefford (21), of Woodside, Branston, Lincoln, has been charged with causing the death of Gemma Marshall by careless/inconsiderate driving.

He is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on April 18.

Dance student Gemma (pictured) died in hospital on February 13, 2018 — ten days after being involved in the road traffic collision.

Former Oakwood pupil Gemma was a passenger in a blue Peugeot when it was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Lincolnshire.

Gemma and the driver were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One other passenger received minor injuries.

The 19-year-old, who trained at the Janet Mitchell School of Dance in Brecks, was in her second year of a dance degree at the University of Lincoln when she died.
