Driver freed by firefighters after two-car smash

FIRE crews attended a two-car smash in Wombwell this morning, freeing one trapped driver from his vehicle.

Three engines from Cudworth, Barnsley and Dearne stations attended Wombwell Lane at 5.45am.

Crews left the scene at 7am, after one man had been transferred to hospital.

Firefighters from Maltby attended Orchard Lane, Thurcroft at 7.50pm yesterday, where a car was ablaze.

They left the scene around an hour later — the Honda is thought to have been set alight on purpose.

Staff from Dearne station attended a refuse fire on Keble Martin Way, in Wath, at 8.15pm yesterday.

One crew was at the scene for half-an-hour. The rubbish is thought to have been set alight deliberately.
