Driver cut free after crashing into a tree on Bawtry Road

A MAN had to be cut free from his car this morning (Monday) after ploughing into a tree.

The driver of the 4x4 vehicle was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after the incident on Bawtry Road, Tickhill, near Cherry Lane Garden Centre at 7am.

Crews from Dearne and Adwick stations were at the scene for nearly two hours and used cutting equipment to free the man.

“It is believed a vehicle has lost control and collided with a tree,” said a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman.

“The male driver of the vehicle was taken to Northern General Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries to his legs, not thought to be life-threatening.”

Diversions were put in place but the road has now reopened.
