Driver arrested on drink-drive charge after man (47) seriously hurt in Greasbrough head-on collision

A SUSPECTED drink driver was arrested after a head-on collision in Rotherham which left a man seriously injured.

The collision between a white Vauxhall van and a silver Skoda Octavia happened at 2am on Saturday on Potter Hill in Greasbrough.

The 47-year-old Skoda driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening head and chest injuries, police said.

Officers later arrested the Astra driver, a 30-year-old man, at his home later on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. 

He has since been released under investigation.

Police want to hear from an witnesses or people who may have seen how the Astra was being driven before the crash.
