Driver arrested after woman critically injured in Kimberworth collision

A MOTORIST has been arrested after a Kimberworth collision left a woman in a life-threatening condition

The incident occurred yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon and police are urging witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that a 24-year-old man was driving a black Renault Clio along Pitt Street, Kimberworth, towards Rotherham town centre at around 4.30pm when the collision happened.

A police spokeswoman added: “It is reported that the Clio was involved in a collision with a woman who had got out of her car, a silver Audi A3, which was parked on the kerb on Pitt Street."

The 57-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where she remained in a critical condition this morning. 

The spokeswoman added a further collision involving the Clio and a stationary red Skoda Fabia took place shortly after the woman was injured.

The Clio driver was arrested nearby on Meadowbank Road on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remained in police custody.

The occupants of the Skoda were not injured. 

Police are urging witnesses to come forward. Call 101 quoting incident number 727 of August 8.
