Driver arrested after suspected ‘hit and run’

A DRIVER was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after an accident after a pedestrian suffered a head injury in a suspected hit-and-run collision with a car

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We were called at about 2.05pm on Tuesday by a member of the public to report a collision between a car and a pedestrian reportedly occurring off Taylors Lane in Parkgate.

“A car and a pedestrian were reportedly in a collision in the car park for ASDA and Farm Foods, before the car drove away from the scene.

“The victim, a man aged in his 70s, suffered a minor head injury and was assessed by Yorkshire Ambulance Service before being allowed to go home.”

Officers located the car in question and arranged for it to be recovered.

The 22-year-old car driver has been released on police bail as investigations continue.
