Driver abandoned car after crashing in Tinsley

A DRIVER was arrested for failing to stop after crashing in Tinsley in the early hours of today (Monday).

A DRIVER was arrested for failing to stop after smashing into a police car in Tinsley in the early hours of today (Monday).

A police spokesman said: “An officer from the Roads Policing Group attempted to stop a silver VW Jetta travelling at speed on Sheffield Road, Rotherham.

“The VW rammed the police vehicle before failing to stop. It was pursued into the Tinsley area by a number of tactical resources.

“The vehicle crashed into a parked car near Bawtry Road and after a short foot chase, the driver was detained.”

The 38-year-old driver was arrested at about 12.20am for failing to stop, dangerous driving and criminal damage.

He was released pending further inquiries, police said.
