Driver (76) collapses at wheel

AN ELDERLY motorist was said to be in a stable condition after suffering a suspected heart attack at the wheel  last night .

The 76-year-old man, from Doncaster, collided with another vehicle before hitting a wall on Maltby High Street.

It is believed his blue Rover 75 had emerged at low speed from the car park at the rear of Weldricks Chemist.

It then struck a Rover ZR, being driven by a 47-year-old Doncaster man, who was waiting in traffic at Queens Crossroads.

The road was closed for almost three hours after the incident, shortly after 5.30pm yesterday.

The 76-year-old was taken to Rotherham General Hospital. No-one else was injured.
