Dozens of firefighters tackle arson attack at Wombwell flat

AROUND 25 firefighters helped to tackle an arson attack on a flat in Wombwell on Saturday.

Five fire crews and a turntable ladder were at the scene above a shop on High Street, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

Crews from Dearne, Barnsley, Cudworth and Central stations dealt with the fire, which began at 4.45pm, added the spokesperson.

No-one was injured in the fire which is believed to have been started deliberately.

The crews left the scene at 10.10pm, added the spokesperson.
