Double whammy for Appleyard and Wale

LEE Appleyard and Josh Wale were both crowned champions on a super Saturday of boxing.

Bramley's Appleyard won the vacant English Lightweight belt after stopping the unbeaten Steve Brogan in the sixth round of the bill-topper at the Doncaster Dome.

Earlier in the night, Brampton Bierlow battler Josh Wale fulfilled his quest to win a Lonsdale Belt when he outpointed Scot Jamie Wilson to clinch the British Bantamweight crown.

The show, promoted by Stefy Bull, also saw Tickhill's Richard Thomas claim the Central Area super middleweight crown.
