Double scoop for Mexborough health trust

EXCELLENCE in training has won the trust that runs Mexborough Montagu Hospital a national award.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust won gold for its Changing Attitudes, Improving Outcomes programme at the Training Journal Awards 2013.

The scheme was launched to address issues on a particular ward that were resulting in negative patient feedback, low staff morale and high sickness absence rates.

The achievement comes just weeks after the programme also won the Nursing Times Awards 2013 for Excellence in Supporting Staff Health and Wellbeing.

Tracey Gray, head of education at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals, said: “Winning two national awards is a truly remarkable achievement and we are extremely proud.

“The real stars were the ward staff who embraced the programme wholeheartedly.

“It just goes to show how collaborative working, coupled with enthusiasm and commitment can improve the quality of care for patients and the working lives of staff.”
