Dog-tired police dog hits the “paws” button after a busy week

POLICE dog Vinnie had his paws up this week after playing a key role in three arrests.

The canine attended with officers investigating a transit van parked in woods near Maltby Academy on Sunday (7).

He sniffed a trail from the vehicle to a hole in a fence and then to a broken window at the old grammar school building.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Inside were two men with tools removing fittings and equipment.

“A very vocal Vinnie persuaded the 35 and 26-year-old men to come out to be arrested for burglary.”

The previous day, Vinnie chased down a male youth armed with a knife on Howard Street in Sheffield city centre.

The dog was enjoying a well-deserved four days off this week, SYP Operational Support posted on social media.
