Dog rescued from Rawmarsh flat fire

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a dog from a flat in Rawmarsh last night (Wednesday) after a deliberate fire spread from outside.

Fire crews from Rotherham, Dearne and Tankersley were called to Rolls Crescent at 11pm.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said a wheelie bin and sofa were set alight outside of the flat and the blaze spread to the property.

"One dog was rescued from the flat and there were no other injuries," she added.

"The crew left the scene at 12.50pm and the cause of the fire was deliberate."
