Does your community group deserve a slice of our £15K pot of cash?

The next panel meeting to decide who to give money to is on September 7 — so get your applications in now.

The Advertiser has teamed up with the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) to support small organisations that make a difference across the district.

A £15,000 cash pot has been lined up to support vital local groups in the community, who can apply for a piece of the pie to a maximum of £1,000 each.

Awards so far have been made to Aspire Community Hub of Thorpe Hesley (£992), Rotherham Talking Newspaper (£1,000), 9th Rotherham Scout Group of Rawmarsh (£1,000), Mind in Mexborough Library (£360), Ferham Festival (£970), and Eastwood Let’s Play Outside Project (£1,000).

To be in with a chance of receiving money, all you have to do is fill in a simple application form and tell us why you need the money. 

A panel — which includes Advertiser editor Andrew Mosley — will go through each application.

Mr Mosley said: “With autumn and winter on the horizon, the panel would welcome applications from ‘dark nights’ projects which provide activities for those who may otherwise end up on the wrong side of the law or help those who could be vulnerable to crime over this period of the nights draw in.”

Community groups must be non-profit making and their projects need to fit in with the PCC’s priorities of protecting vulnerable people, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, and treating people fairly.
