ST JOHN'S CHURCH: Last Saturday there was a Prayer Morning and on Sunday the weekly Morning Worship, during which Chris Welburn talked about the work of Charlie’s Pantry at the Chislett Centre. The church council met on Monday and today (Thursday) at 3.30pm the church hosts a meeting of the St John’s Green Stakeholder Group. On Sunday morning the service will be at the usual time of 10.30 and members will also join the afternoon service of welcome at Thorpe Hesley for Geraldine Pearce who is joining the team in this group of parishes as a curate.

ST JOHN’S GREEN STAKEHOLDER GROUP: The group which consists of residents, business owners, councillors, RMBC housing and estates staff, police, church members, community groups, children and young peoples’ services etc meets regularly to discuss ideas and problems in the area. The last meeting discussed the use of the Green in the evening and how best to meet the needs of all members of the community.

KIMBERWORTH PARK COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP: The members forum of the Kimberworth Park Community Partnership meet regularly to hear the reports from a range of local groups. Local organisations and residents wishing to join the Community Partnership should phone the Chislett Centre on 559805. 

MUSICALITY: The group is made up of both men and women who have various capabilities of singing. There are no auditions; just a lovely sing song followed by a cup of tea and a natter. When we are allowed to, we will be singing at various venues, including nursing homes in the area which the residents enjoy immensely. We also sing at other events at St John’s Church, St John’s Green – Easter, Christmas, Harvest Festival etc. We average a group of about 20 persons who thoroughly enjoy themselves – all for free! They meet at 11.30 on Thursdays at the Chislett Centre on Kimberworth Road and finish at 1pm. Everyone is welcome, any age, any capability.

REUNION FOR FORMER PUPILS OF OLD HALL SCHOOL: Calling all pupils who entered the new Old Hall school in 1958. A reunion is being organised for July 22 in The Colin Campbell at 7pm. TAI CHI CLASSES FOR SENIORS: Classes are held at the Black Hut on Kimberworth Park Road (next to Redscope School). Meet every Monday 10.30 to 11.30am. Cost £5. Just turn up if interested or contact Peter on 01709 547918 for more details.

KIMBERWORTH PARK TENANTS & RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION (TARA): The TARA is situated on Byrley Road and opens for breakfasts, Monday to Wednesday, between 9am and 11am. Clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, books, dvds, etc are on sale – donations welcome. Occasional coach trips are also organised, along with other events throughout the year. 

KIMBERWORTH PARK WALKING FOR PLEASURE: Meets at St. John's Church on Wednesday mornings at 9.45am. On June 22, the group walked through Barker’s Park, Bray’s Plantation to Keppels Column (still undergoing restoration work), Scholes Village, returning via Scholes Wood to St John’s Church for cupcakes and drinks. KIMBERWORTH PARK LITTER ACTION GROUP: Are a group of like-minded individuals who are determined to clean up our area and keep it that way. They have managed to fill over 1000 bags this year. We can also provide some litter picking equipment to loan to anyone interested in keeping their local patch litter free.

KIMBERWORTH PARK CLUB 50+: Meet every Wednesday in the building known as The Black Hut on Kimberworth Park Road next door to Redscope School from 12 noon till 2.30/3pm. They play three games of cash bingo, hold a raffle, have tea/coffee cake and biscuits at half-time all for £4.50! They have regular trips out, lunches, theatre, garden centres and more.
