DISTRICT NEWS: KILNHURST

What’s happening in and around your village ....

ST. THOMAS' CHURCH: The Sunday service this week was a celebration and thanksgiving on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, in which thoughts were shared about the incredibly long reign of Queen Elizabeth and how that life of devoted service points us to the eternal reign of King Jesus. The church is still offering a Livestream option for anyone wishing to join in from home via Facebook, YouTube or Zoom. They were also lucky enough to be selected by Rotherham Council to receive a Jubilee grant to help with all their recent Jubilee celebrations.

KILNHURST RESOURCE CENTRE: Victoria Cusworth, the Labour and Co-op Councillor for Kilnhurst and Swinton East, recently visited the centre to chat with local residents and play a game of bingo.

THE COMMUNITY FRIDGE AT THE CABIN: This is an initiative to save food from the landfill by collecting it from supermarkets and food retailers and making it available for free for the local community. Anyone can use the community fridge as it is not a foodbank, it is a way of saving food and not wasting it. Local residents visit the community fridge, choose the free food they know they can make use of and take it home. It is a fantastic initiative created for the local community and run by volunteers. Find your nearest one in Hoyland and for more information, visit the groups Facebook page at The Community Fridge at the Cabin.
