Dinnington residents young and old have worked together with staff from the village’s Jade Youth and Community Centre to create the tribute to 16-year-old Leonne, who was stabbed to death in an alleyway by death-obsessed killer Shea Heeley two years ago.

Sam Oldroyd, chief executive, said Leonne’s family had been invited to attend the official opening at the site of New Street at 11am next Friday, to which members of the public are also welcome.

“The garden has been developed by young people and our adult groups in memory of Leonne, who was tragically murdered in 2017.

“Our various groups have worked tirelessly to create a lasting memorial that will provide a

shared space for the community to come together, socialise and reflect.

“It is a stunning space full of life and colour, all thanks to their hard work.”
