Dig deep and spread colour and hope

SCHOOLS and community groups are being encouraged to dig deep and spread hope as part of a new gardening scheme.

Supermarket Morrisons is running a Seeds of Hope campaign, which is designed to help brighten up customers’ window boxes and gardens through a mass giveaway of 2.5 million sunflower seed packets.

The Wonder Years nursery in Ravenfield had a visit from community champion Vanessa Dundon to kickstart their involvement.

Vanessa also joined Vanessa is pictured with Rose Simmons and Cllr Emma Hoddinott to donate seeds and plants to Mark Grove Community Centre in Flanderwell.

Morrisons said the project aimed to spread colour and hope as lockdown eased and summer came round.

Customers are being offered packs of ten seeds for dwarf sunflowers — which grow up to 14 inches high — at the supermarket checkout.
