Developer banking on Wickersley restaurant plans

Bisichi Properties has applied to transform the Tanyard precinct’s Royal Bank of Scotland branch, which closed this week.

The new venue would have six staff and be open daily until 11pm.

A statement from agents Bradley Stankler Planning said the development would meet national planning aims for economic growth.

It added: “It will provide additional investment, which will contribute to the vitality and viability of the shopping centre.

“It meets the social objective by job creation and the provision of additional services in the centre throughout the daytime and evening.

“Lastly, the environmental objective, by provision of a much-improved shop front which will enliven the premises.”

Plans by the Olive Lounge, the Courtyard and Italian restaurant W have all been rejected this summer.

Residents and councillors have spoken out against what they have called over-development of the village’s nightlife scene.

RBS announced the closure of 162 branches in May, with the loss of nearly 800 jobs.
